Alex Wen is in his fourth season as principal conductor with Golden Rose Opera, having led performances of La Boheme, Carmen, and Suor Angelica in past years. In New York City, Alex has worked with contemporary chamber opera company, Rhymes With Opera, the Queens College Orchestra, Litha Symphony Orchestra, the St. Peter's Festival Orchestra, and collaborative projects with musicians from the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Aaron Copland School of Music. He has been assistant and cover conductor for the Yonkers Philharmonic, the Sound Symphony, Massapequa Philharmonic, and Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. Upcoming conducting performances in 2018 include Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro with Queens College Opera and the final concert of the season with the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra.


Under the tutelage of Maurice Peress at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Alex received his Masters degree in conducting while managing the Queens College Conductors Workshop over several years. In the role, he assisted Maestro Peress and composers such as David Amram, Bruce Saylor, and George Tsontakis. With a Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance from Azusa Pacific University (APU), he also gained choral experience as an assistant conductor to the APU Chamber Singers. In that role, he prepared the orchestra and covered major rehearsals for occasions such as the National Collegiate Choral Organization's renowned conference. Before relocating to New York City, he was assistant conductor for the Celestial Opera Company in Los Angeles, where he has also enjoyed performing on multiple film scores as a conductor and violist.
